4 Patiala residents among 9 killed as car falls into river in Uttarakhand
Four residents of Patiala in Punjab were among the nine people drowned on Friday morning as their car fell into the Dhela river in Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar and was washed away by its strong current, police said.
The accident occurred at 5.45am when the occupants of the car were on their way back to Punjab.
While four bodies had been recovered, five were still trapped in the car, they said.
The four Patiala residents included two women. They were identified as Pawan Jacob, Kavita, Jhanvi and Iqbal Kumar. All were reportedly members of an orchestra group.A 22-year-old woman, Nazia, was rescued from the car. She has been sent to the Ramnagar hospital.
