Patiala ADC orders FIRs against 74 colonisers in district
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Gautam Jain has asked the SSP Patiala to register FIRs against 74 colonisers under Section 36 of the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act (PAPRA) for developing illegal colonies in the district. As many as 17 colonies fall in the jurisdiction of Sanaur Municipal Council.
The list includes colonisers of Grid Colony, developed on 8 acres in 2007, Vishwakarma colony developed in 2013, Khalsa Colony developed on 18 acres between 2007-14, Madi Mandir Colony developed in 2013, Shiv Enclave developed in 2017. Another 11 colonies developed after the cut-off date as per the regularisation policy of 2018 are also on the list.
Officials of the Department of Local Government said the action would be initiated against colonisers, who developed certain colonies in violation of the PAPRA Act. They said certain colonies were developed before the policy for Regularisation of Unauthorised Colonies Act 2018 was notified, but the developers failed to apply for license to carry out the developments. The officials said they issued them repeated notices but to no avail. There are another set of colonies developed after the cut-off date for regularisation of unauthorised colonies. We are acting against such developers for violation of the PAPRA act as well, officials said.
In a letter to the SSP, Patiala, the ADC asked him to register FIRs against developers of illegal colonies under PAPRA. Officials of the department said, “Action will be initiated against colonisers, who developed the colonies without requisite permission and sanctions and not the plot-holders who regularised their plots as per the regularisation policy of 2018.” They said the list of colonisers, who have developed illegal colonies, was being prepared and submitted to the SSP office soon for further action.
