The Mohali Police arrested three members of the Bhupi Rana gang after an encounter
The Mohali Police arrested three members of the Bhupi Rana gang after an encounter on Sunday night, where one of the gangsters got injured. The police have also recovered two country-made pistols, ten live cartridges and two shells from the possession of gangsters.
One sub-inspector was also injured in the encounter between the Punjab Police Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the gangsters. Both the sub-inspector and the injured gangster have been admitted to the hospital.
These gangsters were out to collect protection money from the owner of the Zirakpur-based hotel.
Talking to India Today, DIG, Rupnagar range, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the gang leader Ankit Rana called the hotel owner and demanded protection money. He was also threatened with dire consequences. On July 11, the hotel owner lodged a police complaint about the threat call at Zirakpur police station.
The gang leader of the Bhupi Rana gang sent three arrested gangsters from the Tau Devi Lal stadium area to collect money. Police reached there and started questioning the gangsters.
One of the gangsters named Ranbir opened fire, which also hit a sub-inspector. The police retaliated and managed to capture all the three gangsters.
The police have registered a case and have been interrogating the arrested gangsters to expose the racket.
